[ET Net News Agency, 8 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$130.65 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$19.64 billion, or 15.03% of the
market's turnover. There were 766 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and TRACKER FUND
(02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$4.13 billion and HK$1.24
billion, or 21.03% and 6.31% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 64.85% and 19.9% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W (09988) and XIAOMI-W (01810) registered HK$956.48 million and HK$646.48 million
of short sales, accounting for 4.87% and 3.29% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 18.74% and 19.75% of respective stock's
turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed down HK$1.12, or 1.2%, to HK$92.58. TRACKER FUND ended down HK$0.32, or
1.2%, to HK$26.34. BABA-W fell HK$2.2, or 1.51% to HK$143.7. XIAOMI-W declined by HK$0.68,
or 1.78%, to HK$37.48.
