[ET Net News Agency, 15 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$163.9 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$17.48 billion, or 10.67% of the
market's turnover. There were 779 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and TENCENT (00700)
saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.92 billion and HK$1.2 billion, or
11.01% and 6.87% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented
13.44% and 15.6% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and TRIP.COM-S (09961) registered HK$1.03 billion and HK$1.01
billion of short sales, accounting for 5.88% and 5.79% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 11.57% and 10.14% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed down HK$5, or 2.96%, to HK$164. TENCENT ended down HK$8.5, or 1.34%, to
HK$624.5. TRACKER FUND fell HK$0.12, or 0.44% to HK$27.08. TRIP.COM-S declined by
HK$111.9, or 19.65%, to HK$457.6.
