[ET Net News Agency, 16 January 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$140.79 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$14.28 billion, or 10.14% of the
market's turnover. There were 752 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and CSOP HS TECH
(03033) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.18 billion and HK$981.84
million, or 8.26% and 6.88% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 16.78% and 35.89% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF (02828) and POP MART (09992) registered HK$893.72 million and HK$890.69
million of short sales, accounting for 6.26% and 6.24% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 29.6% and 23.64% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$1.8, or 1.09%, to HK$166.4. CSOP HS TECH ended down HK$0.015, or
0.26%, to HK$5.69. HSCEI ETF fell HK$0.4, or 0.42% to HK$94.62. POP MART declined by HK$9,
or 4.76%, to HK$180.2.
