Last year, a line from the musical 'Yu Liang' — 'the tips of brushes dancing in unison' — encapsulated the pursuit and perseverance of China's first female painter to study abroad in France, drawing audiences into her tumultuous life and artistic realm. This year, with funding from the National Arts Fund, the musical 'Yu Liang' returns on a larger scale and with deeper creative insights, further strengthening and delving into Yu Liang's artistic spirit.

Pan Yu Liang, China's first female Western-style painter, rose above her humble beginnings through resilience and talent, reshaping her destiny. Amidst cold eyes and exclusion, she firmly held onto her brush, blending Eastern and Western artistic styles and carving out a legend with her unique 'iron wire' technique. She stood resilient in the torrent of the times, leaving behind countless classic works of art. She devoted her life to art, driven solely by her passion and lifelong pursuit.

Her art saved her from drowning; her perseverance left a lasting legacy. This is not only her story but also an inspiration and a stirring of our souls.

This programme is divided into two parts, please take note of the following details:

Part One
The venue will open at 2:30pm and/or 7:30pm for an exhibition. The performance venue will be transformed into an art gallery showcasing Pan Yu Liang's works based on the musical 'Yu Liang', coexisting with the stage space. Audiences are free to wander and appreciate Pan Yu Liang's paintings, stepping into her artistic realm to prepare for the second part of the performance.

Part Two
The musical performance will officially commence at 3:00pm and/or 8:00pm. The total duration is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, without intermission.

Due to venue limitations, some exhibition areas can accommodate a limited number of people at once. Audience entry will be based on a first-come, first-served basis. Some audience members may not be able to enter certain exhibition areas due to high demand. Your understanding is appreciated.
