The Hong Kong Drum Festival dates back to the "post-SARS" period in 2003. The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra adheres to the original intention of "it is better to have fun alone than to have fun together!" and cheer everyone up with inspiring drum sounds. Last year, the "Stronging Heartstrings Connecting the World" Drum Carnival and 5G Concert held in the West Kowloon Cultural District attracted more than 16,098 participants to support the event in person and more than 740,000 people to watch online.

Due to popular demand, the orchestra will once again hold the 2024 Hong Kong Drum Festival "Drumming Heartstrings to Connect the World" drum carnival and 5G live concert at the West Kowloon Cultural District Lawn on December 8 (Sunday). It will combine drumming and dance to showcase Hong Kong culture to the world. Soft power. The orchestra invited the intangible cultural heritage drum troupe - Longmen Steel Drum Troupe (Shaanxi Hancheng Drum Troupe), Lanzhou Yonghong Taiping Drum Art Troupe (Lanzhou Taiping Drum) and Xia Guozhang Dragon and Lion Troupe (lion dance) to parade on the lawn and interact with the audience up close. At the concert, the orchestra will bring performances from the Malaysian Drum Theater, Korean drums, Japan and Hong Kong tap dance, Indian tabla and dance, and Xinjiang tambourine and dance. The audience will also receive brown drums to play interactively with the orchestra. The sound of drums will be heard throughout the West Kowloon Cultural District!

During the Drum Carnival, multiple consulates in Hong Kong will bring local specialties and cultural experiences to everyone, showcasing Hong Kong’s blend of Chinese and Western culture and art. On the big screen, videos of drum performances filmed at landmarks in Hong Kong's 18 districts will be broadcast, allowing everyone to experience the customs of the people and the unique landforms of each district. The parent-child drumming workshop and a variety of recreational activities, as well as drum troupe performances from different organizations and the finals of the "24 Drumming Styles" competition (open group and primary school group), will surely make everyone have fun and forget to come back.
